Orono, ME

As our first official Margaritas restaurant, Margaritas in Orono, ME has a very special place in our hearts. We opened our doors in 1985 in this fun-loving college town and are sure glad we did! We are located at 15 Mill Street, off of Route 2 near the Penobscot River, in a historic century-old building on the outskirts of the University of Maine campus.

For the past three decades, Margaritas has been feeding the hungry residents of Orono, ME and has become a fixture on The University of Maine campus. Alumni still come back to remember the good old days and reminisce about El Cheepo’s, our once-upon-a-time basement bar, where, you guessed it, drinks were cheap and tacos were even cheaper. Today, we continue to serve up authentic Mexican cuisine for students and for those in town to cheer on the Black Bears or attend a show at Darlings Waterfront Pavillion in Bangor.

Orono also holds a number of events and conferences every year including the Relay for Life, the Maine Outdoorsman Sports Show, University of Maine Home Coming Weekend and numerous University of Maine sporting events. At Margaritas we are proud to be a part of the UMO community, serving up authentic Mexican cuisine for all the UMO Black Bears and Black Bears at heart for over 30 years.
