Our first restaurant began life as Chuck's
Steak House in the early 70s. In 1984, it was transformed in to
"Tio Juan's Mexican Restaurant and Watering Hole" under
the direction of General Manager John Pelletier. In 1985, John
took ownership of "Tio's." With a loyal, outgoing staff,
John established the foundations of what would become Margaritas Mexican
Restaurants. Tio's was completely renovated in 1996 to include some
of the signature elements that are now Margaritas staples. In 1999,
Tio Juan's was officially renamed "Margaritas" to be consistent
with our other locations. But to many loyal residents of New
Hampshire's capital city, it will always be affectionately known as "Tio's."
Margaritas is situated in historic
Bicentennial Square in the heart of Concord's downtown. The brick
landmark was originally built in the early part of the century as the town
police station and jailhouse. Elements of the past remain amid the
Mexican atmosphere.
The original
16 jail cells are now individual
dining "cells" with bright,
color-washed walls adorned with images of Mexican life. The Dining
area, seating 125, also features a unique group table set below ground
level, authentic hand-carved Mexican sun chairs, and plenty of Mexican
tiled tables and booths. Our friendly hosts welcome visitors from
what was the old witness box relocated in the foyer. A comfortable,
living room style section boasts a large welcoming fireplace, and
wonderful touches of Mexico.
The festive lounge, located in the former
town courtroom, continues to be the most popular meeting place for
Concord-ites including business folks in the early evening, and a younger
crowd later.
Concord, is a safe, family- oriented New
England town overflowing with law firms, political and legislative
professionals. These groups, along with the students and faculty of nearby
New Hampshire Technical College and Franklin Pierce College, provides
Margaritas Concord with a steady, friendly customer base. Visitors
to the area can experience Laconia Raceway, or take advantage of the many
nearby ski facilities, while autumn "leaf peepers" are never
disappointed with the breath-taking central New Hampshire scenery.
