At Margaritas we like to offer a mix of dishes, including those for the health conscious diner. If that’s you, here are some tips on eating healthy Mexican meals that don’t skimp on flavor.
Margaritas Healthiest Mexican Meals
Handmade Fresh Guacamole
Made fresh throughout the day at Margaritas, guacamole is of course made from avocados, a fruit dense in nutritional benefits. Add guacamole to any of our tacos, burritos, enchiladas or salads to make a healthier Mexican meal. It’s delicious and good for you!
(Original Grilled, Guadalajara Steak, Chipotle BBQ Chicken or Steak, Adobe Chicken, Mucho Sabor) – Fajitas are a great option for the health-conscious diner. Filled with hot grilled items like grilled chicken, shrimp or beef and served with fresh vegetables and fixings so you can build your own idea of perfection, this menu item is just for you. If you are counting calories, just replace the sour cream with handmade fresh guacamole or salsa!
It might not sound exciting, but with a touch of one of our famous sauces (cilantro, chimichurri or adobe); our juicy grilled chicken is taken to a whole new level. Plus, it’s served with a signature side salad, making this one of our lowest calorie dishes on the menu.
Steak lovers know you don’t need to add much to a NY strip to make it mouthwatering. At Margaritas we serve our tender sirloin strip grilled to your liking and served with a signature side salad. Or if you want to try a tasty alternative, ask for it Guadalajara or Chimichurri style!
For the non-meat eaters, we have the Burrito Vegetariana. A flour tortilla stuffed with black beans, Mexican rice, spinach, fire roasted corn, sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms all baked in our mild enchilada sauce and topped with lettuce, salsa fresca and crema.
Healthy Mexican Cooking at Home
If you are cooking at home and need some ideas for healthy Mexican meals, the possibilities are endless. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Sweet potatoes, corn, cilantro, garlic and a homemade cheese sauce combine to put these nachos in a league of their own.
Make your own salsa and skip the added salt in the store-bought versions. Pico de gallo tastes great not only with chips but added to any Mexican dish.
Full of flavor and rich in omega 3s, this meal is simple to make and won’t weigh you down. It might cause you to come back for seconds though!
Rice is a staple in Mexican cuisine. But if you want to put a little twist on the original Mexican rice, try this alternative with avocado to add nutritional benefits and pump up the taste. Serve with your fish tacos and a side of beans.
A little taste of Margaritas at home – or just let us take care of it. Of course, all of our dishes are available for take out, but we also have the Take Home kit. A pint of salsa, half a pint of guacamole, a big bag of chips and two quarts of Squeeze (their handmade Margarita mix). All for just $10.99.
