Outward
Bound
As Margaritas continues to
succeed and works toward expansion and growth, the need to have strong,
well-developed leaders throughout the organization has become critical to our
future. All levels of a management have undergone previous leadership
training and identified certain competencies inherent in a leader.
The Outward Bound Professional program provided a situation
that would
further expand upon these competencies while challenging each leader to
identify the strengths and limitations in both his or her own personal
leadership ability and in the leadership qualities of their management teams.
Program Objectives:
The purpose of the custom designed one-day program was to improve team
and individual development in the areas of:

Building and developing
leadership competencies identified an Organization, Competence, Reliability,
Passion, Recognition, Support and Creativity.

Strengthening our ability to
problem solve through a goal-oriented process.
-
Recognizing and celebrating
the accomplishments of others.
-
Having fun.
Program Outcome:
The Outward Bound Professional Series was a success and exceeded our
expectations in all objectives. As
a whole, our organization was able to take away valuable lessons on leadership
and teamwork while challenging each individual to be a better leader when they
return to the location level.

With each obstacle and
challenge, managers were asked to reflect upon the Leadership Competencies
and how they were entwined with the team’s success.
The team was then asked to focus on the same principles as they
pertained to their workplace. Managers are now challenged to become a better leader through
building their skills in Organization, Competence, Reliability, Passion,
Recognition, Support and Creativity.

Every team was given the
opportunity to problem-solve by focusing on the goal, identifying the
process and knowing and supporting the roles of those who will help achieve
the goal. This gave each
manager a model of how to handle problems at the location level.
Managers are now challenged to find that balance in finding the best
solution in their daily work.

The program provided a great
environment for offering support and recognition to team members, often in
situations when they needed that support to succeed.
Each manager will take that model back to their workplace and know
the importance that their support and recognition will mean to the success
of his co-workers, peers and employees.

Even though the program
challenged every person both physically and mentally, every person left with
a great smile on their face and a well-deserved sense of accomplishment.
