Field Trip Request Form

Field Trips to our culturally rich restaurants continue to be a great educational experience for local students and their teachers.  Upon arrival they are treated to a lecture, a tour, food demonstration and a traditional dining experience.  A study guide provides material to further educate the groups and follow-up activities for later classroom discussion.

Our field trip coordinators conduct  field trips which explore the wonderful heritage, history and folk art of Colorful Mexico.  By providing various perspectives of the Mexican way of life, they are able to illuminate the unique and fascinating characteristics of  a grand Mexican culture.

The lecture includes a DVD presentation depicting various craft workshops, markets, street scenes, ancient ruins and mariachis from the land south of the border. The tour of the restaurant features artifacts and furnishings produced by Mexican artisans allowing participants to gain an appreciation of the culture by viewing and touching the crafts.

Since most Americans associate Mexico with flavorful, zesty food, Margaritas can shine as the visitors watch our cooks mix up fresh ingredients to make guacamole and salsa casera and enjoy these flavors with traditional enchiladas. Who wouldn’t want to bring back family and Students enjoying the Margaritas field trip friends for more?

Field Trip Activities

This program for junior high and high school students begins with a DVD  presentation showing scenes from our various trips to Mexico. We give the students the chance to see Mexico, it’s people, it’s tradition and it’s art.  Ultimately, they cultivate a better understanding of the Mexican way of life. The presentation is designed to be interactive. The coordinators share their own experiences from traveling in Mexico, while answering students’ questions and responding to their input.

The students are then taken on a tour of the restaurant to see a variety of folk art and decor. Students will have an opportunity to see and touch examples of the artwork they saw in the presentation, bringing the DVD presentation to life.

A member of our kitchen staff will then demonstrate how we make fresh guacamole and salsa casera by hand. The students will see each ingredient and the step-by-step process in preparing these two wonderful Mexican side dishes. Students are offered a sample of each to add to their Mexican-style meal. This provides students an opportunity to experience what a family in Mexico may have for lunch or dinner. Each student will have their choice of a chicken, beef, or cheese enchilada, Mexican-style beans, and Mexican rice and a soft drink. We offer our own fried ice cream for dessert.

Finally we present a gift for the class. The group receives a piece of authentic Mexican art to display in their classroom to provide them with a visual reminder of their trip to Margaritas and their Mexico adventure.

Our Field Trips are a learning experience enjoyed by all. Our goal is to give the students from our communities a unique, hands-on opportunity to see, hear, touch, taste and smell the vibrant Mexican culture! We hope it will encourage them to share the experience with their family and friends and come back again and again.
